Shaleena

Aloha! My name is Shaleena Barrios (she/her).

I was born on Oahu and spent my childhood between California and Maui. I have been living in Lahaina for 13 years now, and am currently in the beginning stages of rebuilding our home.

I am currently a certified labor and postpartum doula and a lactation support and educator; through MaternityWise. I am also in the beginning stages of becoming a midwife. In addition to that, I am married (8 years) and have two beautiful girls ages 8 and 10; do tax preparation, and accounting (amount other things).

I have wanted to be a midwife since I was 15 years old, but previously thought I had to go through the nursing school approach. When I became pregnant with my first, I dove deep into my birth choices and knew it wasn’t for me. It was a few years later that I started my doula journey and since then I have felt called to help support birthing people. It brings me so much joy to be a part of this life transition and to watch the strength that humans are capable of.
