Perinatal Depression and Anxiety: During pregnancy or after having a baby, it is common for women to feel sad, anxious and or tired. If these feelings do not go away after 2 to 3 weeks, it could be a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder such as postpartum depression.
WHEN DOES A PERINATAL MOOD OR ANXIETY DISORDER START?
It can happen during pregnancy or soon after childbirth and it develops gradually over a period of several months. However, perinatal mood or anxiety disorders can also set in suddenly and some women don’t see the first signs until months after they have given birth.
