Names Lisa Kimura New Executive Director
HONOLULU (March 8, 2013) – Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawaii has named Lisa Kimura its new Executive Director, in charge of program administration, advocacy, public policy, management, communications, fundraising and community development.
“I am thrilled to bring my passion and experience to an organization that does so much good for the community. There is nothing more important than developing healthy families and giving children the best possible start in life,” said Kimura. “As a mother, my heart is in maternal and child health, and I am very excited to launch new programs and expand our initiatives to assist parents throughout the state.
Some of these new initiatives include the expansion of “text4baby,” a free text messaging service that alerts parents to critical safety and development information throughout their pregnancy and child’s first year of life. Kimura will also be overseeing the new “Hawaii Cribs for Kids” program, which provides education on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) prevention to expectant parents. Along with these initiatives, Kimura will also be launching a new public service awareness project to promote breastfeeding and optimal prenatal nutrition.
Former director of marketing for Aston Hotels & Resorts and assistant vice president for Aloha United Way, Kimura has a background in management, communications and early childhood development. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University, is a Certified Parent Coach, and proud mother of two beautiful children.
