Valley Isle Childbirth Education, LLC

Description:

When Maui residents think of childbirth they usually associate a quality class with Nancy Irvine CCE, CLC.  Whether you are planning your birth at home or hospital, you will receive a thorough preparation that promotes natural birthing techniques and family-centered maternity care.  Nancy’s philosophy is that classes do not have to be scary or dull….childbirth is neither.  When people ask her if she is still teaching classes, she usually answers them that, for her, childbirth is not a job…it is a calling.  Every couple in her class is unique and comes with their own learning styles. A childbirth educator understands this and can maximize not only your learning, but enhance your childbirth experience.

Teaching childbirth, breastfeeding and new parenting for over 30 years makes Nancy uniquely qualified to do just that.  She offers the most diversified class options on the island, from UpCountry childbirth retreats, to in-home private classes, to new Skype sessions.  Her small group classes allow Nancy to get to know you and meet your individual needs.  This also allows you to get to know your class members and make new friends with lots of things in common.

You only get one chance to have a quality birth experience.

With Valley Isle Childbirth you won’t get lost in the crowd. Oh yeah…Prepare to have fun too!

Aloha House Inc. Substance Abuse Treatment - Malama Family Recovery Center

Description:

Aloha House was established in 1977 for the purpose of providing outpatient and residential treatment for persons addicted to alcohol and/or other drugs. Since that time, the mission has been expanded to include provision of comprehensive, family-centered behavioral health interventions for the prevention and treatment of individual and family dysfunction.

Our mission is to promote recovery and healthy lifestyles to individuals and families by providing compassionate effective comprehensive behavioral health services with the spirit of excellence and aloha. The mission of our Substance Abuse Services Division is to assist persons addicted to drugs and/or alcohol to achieve and maintain healthy and sober lifestyles. The mission of our Mental Health and Social Services/Child and Adolescent Mental Health programs is to help children with emotional and behavioral impairments achieve optimal functioning in their schools, in their homes, and in the community.

Since 2000, Aloha House has worked with Malama Family Recovery Center (MFRC) – the only agency on Maui that provides a continuum of gender-specific substance abuse treatment services specifically to women. Gender specificity in treatment is critical to successful outcomes because women who abuse substances share common life experiences and have needs distinct from their male counterparts.

Because of women’s unique experiences and needs, this population requires enhanced programming related to mental health and medical needs, victimization issues, parenting and family issues, child care, transportation, financial, employment and vocational needs. A large percentage of our clients are of Native Hawaiian descent and we are proud to integrate culturally competent strategies that incorporate Hawaiian and “local” culture in the healing of substance abuse problems in our community. Since Malama opened its doors in 1990 we have served over 1,600 women.
