Ka Hale Pomaikai

Description:

Beginning in 1996, Ka Hale Pomaika`i (KHP) has provided a valuable resource on Moloka’i through a Recovery Oriented System of Care with wrap around services which support consumers to recover or maintain abstinence from alcohol and other drug misuse. KHP uses state Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC), Certified Prevention Specialists(CPS), Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professionals (CCJAP) and Peer- Recovery Partners with long-term recovery who have “been there” to provide addiction treatment, recovery advocacy, transportation and peer mentoring. KHP collaborates with many local community agencies by offering Substance Use related assessments, treatment, a sober living home and support programs for their referred clientele. KHP offers a site for supervised workers to fulfill community service obligations. Classes for court ordered Impaired Drivers who need “SARP” are available as well. KHP also offers a variety of customized Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) for Moloka’i businesses. The programs KHP offers are designed to reduce recidivism and relapse in recovering adults who may have chemical dependency issues.

Lillemer Products LLC

Description:

The owner of Lillemer Products designed and sells lil’buds Breast Comfort Packs for nursing mothers which are designed to therapeutically treat breast pains while providing the most comfortable and relaxing nursing experience for both Mother and Baby. At Maui Family Support Services (MFSS), we believe that who we are and who we will become is a direct result of our family experience. Since 1980, MFSS has been committed to encouraging positive parenting, preventing child maltreatment and abuse and building on family strengths.

MFSS has worked with thousands of families on Maui, Lanai and Molokai through a broad network and vast array of programs to assist overburdened families and provide a critical safety net of support.

Offering free assistance to help parents create a stable and nurturing environment for their children.

Comprehensive services focus on:

  • Linking families to additional community resources

Specially trained Family Facilitators work with each family to identify needs & provide assistance.

This assistance works to strengthen and empower families encouraging them to become self-reliant.

A family may consist of a child and single parent, both parents, or other caregivers such as a grandparent with responsibility for the child.

Programs:
  • Outreach And Resource Specialists (O.A.R.S) - Conducts interviews with new parents at Maui Memorial Hospital to provide parenting information and link families with community resources
  • Family Home Visiting - A home visiting community based program available to families of young children on Maui, Lanai and Molokai. The program assists parents to identify their needs and select services designed to reduce stress, strengthen family functioning, and promote optimal child development, health and safety. Eligibility for enrollment extends from pregnancy until the child reaches 5-years-old.
  • Early Head Start - Designed for income eligible families, the home-based and center-based option works in partnership with parents in their role as primary caregivers educators of their children. Program goals are to provide safe and developmentally enriching family environments, which promote physical, mental, social and emotional growth of children 0 to 3-years-old.
  • Teen Voices - JUST FOR TEENS! A free-of-charge teen Pregnancy Prevention, Prenatal and Parenting Support Program. Community presentations available for all ages, focusing on unplanned pregnancy prevention strategies and increasing personal knowledge and skills. In addition, weekly support groups for pregnant and parenting teens is offered to give additional support for teen specific topics and issues. Individual and community referrals also available.
  • Fatherhood Involvement Program (FIT) - THE FIT program is a fatherhood involvement program that seeks to provide an environment that is nurturing to teen and adult fathers, fathers-to-be or father figures and their keiki. The program offers support groups for dads to discuss their concerns and assist in bonding with their keiki.
  • Maui County Early Childhood Resource Team - The team coordinates the Good Beginnings efforts in Maui County by promoting activities, resources and training to improve the availability, affordability and quality of early childhood education and child care programs. Services are available to young children and families on Maui, Lanai and Molokai.

MEO Head Start

Description:

The Maui Economic Opportunity Head Start Preschool Program has 11 centers on Maui, 2 centers on Molokai, and a partnership on the island of Lanai. Head start has both full-day and part-day centers. Head Start in Maui County has been part of Maui Economic Opportunity (MEO) Inc. since it's inception in 1965.

MEO Head Start's mission is to promote growth and change by empowering economically challenged, high-risk, and/or special needs pre-school children ad their families to better succeed in life.

Head Start serves families with pre-school aged children. Priority is given to families who meet the Federal Income Guidelines, high-risk and children with special needs or disabilities.

The MEO Head Start Program's focus is the whole family; assuring parents receive help with a wide range of family needs. The staff enters into a compassionate partnership with each Head Start parent and family to shape the future of their Head Start child. This is accomplished with one child, one parent, and one family at a time.

Parents are a very important part of the Head Start program. We regard them as their child's first teacher and believe they always have vital information to share regarding their child. We highly encourage, invite, and welcome them to actively participate, as well as volunteer in the classroom. The teaching staff and parents form a partnership and share ideas for activities, excursions, etc.
